Blossom sells fresh-made baked goods and comfort food using high quality ingredients locally sourced when possible. We make our food in small batches with patience and care. The results – soft cookies and flavorful food.
Blossom’s team consists of those historically underemployed, including returning individuals, trained in a supportive, growth-driven environment. We take the time to teach kitchen and soft customer service skills such as interpersonal communications and active listening. Employment can be a source of pride driving one’s growth and resiliency in an unkind and racist world.
Where can you find us:
We are currently cooking out of Mess Hall Kitchen in NE in Ward 5. From there, we prepare our food for sale at local corner stores and community markets. We are actively preparing a food truck to enable us to better operate in Wards 7 and 8. We are incredibly excited for this new venture.
A new monthly community market at Maya Angelou Public Charter School, 939 55th Street NE. The first market of the season will be April 2nd from 11 to 4 with a host of free activities for the family and a free food distribution.
Starting June 4th, we will be at MLK Elementary School, 3200 6th Street SE from 10 to 1 weekly selling our fresh baked goods.
The latest information on where we sell our products can be found on our Instagram page BlossomBakeryDC.
We utilize a sliding scale where the price – not the product – changes based on where the food is being sold. We believe that this makes economic sense and begins to rectify social injustices that led to the creation of the food deserts of DC.
